we are starting to see a lot more articles in the cybersecurity space around the use of AI in cyber attacks. Cyber criminals like any criminal are opportunistic and will use whatever vulnerability is easy to exploit, or whatever tool that is at their disposal.
This is an interesting article from the people at Portswigger(creators of BurpSuite) and securing against LLM attacks and Web3 vulnerabilities will become an increasingly hot topic. My view is we have a lot to learn but I think we can be positive about the future, as we have experience in dealing with SQL injection, cross site scripting(XSS) etc attacks in web2 and can take these learnings and apply them to AI and web3. While AI and LLM can be used as a weapon, they are equally as useful in defending against cyber attacks.
A related topic is that of Crypto Drainers and DaaS(Drainers as a Service), detailed in this article from Sentinel One where high profile SNS accounts are taken over to spread links with malicious scripts that transfer cryptocurrency out of the victims wallet….
